Mental Health Day -- or Back in the Saddle?

Dilemmas, dilemmas!

It's been a brutal week at the day job--and that includes the mom job. It seems whenever we get to these final weeks of the school year, the whininess kicks in. And my kids have been whining, too! *G*

It's light until well after 8 p.m., so they don't want to get ready for bed and end up getting there later than they should. Then in the morning they're tired and don't want to get moving. Which makes for some very stressful mornings--and this will undoubtedly continue until school lets out for summer break in mid June.

Since it's been a busy, stress-filled week, I find myself in a quandry this morning. Mental Health Day? I sure could use one. Or do I jump back in the saddle to do some writing, which I haven't had time for all week.

If I take the mental health day and read or do something relaxing, I'll probably be calmer and in a better frame of mind by the time my Kindergartner gets off the bus in a couple of hours. In truth though, I probalby won't be able to relax--the house is showing signs of neglect from my busy week and I'll probably end up cleaning. And what self-respecting writer actually has a clean house?

If I choose to write then I have to decide which of my characters I want to spend the day with.

Hmmm...

Which of these two options will feed my soul and bring me inner peace?

Rats, I knew you'd say that! Now I'm off to listen to the voices in my head and see who is calling the loudest...

Wish me luck!

How are you spending this sunny spring Friday?

Sun??? What's that? We are overcast and cold. There is ice under the sprinklers in the field.

I say write- that is what appeals to me. My daughter gave me a sign for Christmas. It says. "My house was clean yesterday" It is proudly displayed where people see it the minute they come through the door! LOL

I desperately need a mental health day! I can't wait to kick back and spend some time watching movies and vegging...once all my work's done. If it ever is, LOL

*sigh*

Fridays are always insane with my son's speech class and trying enterain my daughter during his lessons. *strees much?...%$#@ yes!*

But my relaxation kicks in when I shut their doors for naptime and slip into my own little world. That's the best mental health saver!

Nic, my house was ship-shape before I started writing. Now, I'm lucky if I remember to change the laundry!

So how *did* you spend your Friday? I hope you found the measure of peace that was perfect for you.

LOVE your cowboy silhouette on the blog.

I was at conference Friday, so I missed this post. Conference was great, though -- a jolt of fresh motivation. So I don't need a mental health day right now. But talk to me next week, LOL.

LA and Cari, thanks for stopping by.

Ladies, you'll all be glad to know, I did decide to write. Can't say any of it was worth keeping, LOL, but at least it was writing.

Your life sounds so much like mine. Last week I had to take a mental health day. The kids gave me such a headache with all their fighting and whininess. The senior and the eighth-grader are coming up with every excuse to stay home from school or just plain missing the bus - I think on purpose.

Hugs. Hang in there.
